Calendars & Aging System

In Simmerley, one year is considered 20 days (i.e. 4 seasons of 5 days each)

*Because Simmerley is a warm climate, the actual seasons are differents. Springs and Summers are very hot and dry, while Autumn and especially Winter experience intense rainfall.

The year is ponctuated by many holidays (inspired by MTS calendar), some of them are just a special event while others are non-working days.

Spring :

  • Lover’s Day (Spring Day 2): A special day for lovers, perfect dates and weddings! The High School Prom is also held on that day.
  • Llama Fool Day (Spring Day 4): School festivals are usually held on that day.

Summer :

  • Nation Day (Summer, Day 3): Non-working holiday. Best day to enjoy summer weather, outdoor activities, sports or barbecue and of course fireworks!

Autumn :

  • Spooky Day (Autumn, Day 4): This is the best day to cosplay, carve jack-o-lanterns and throw fun spooky parties.
  • Founder’s Day (Autumn, Day 5) : Non-working holidays only on elections years. This day is great for remembering elders and paying visits to the cemetary.

Winter :

  • Winter’s Eve (Winter, Day 2) : Great for family reunions and celebrating Winter with a Christmas tree. Hope Santa pays a visit!
  • Winter’s Day (Winter, Day 3): Non-working day. Spend time with your family and exchange gifts with your loved ones.
  • New Year’s Eve (Winter, Day 5) : The best New Year’s Eve parties start at 8 p.m.!

Aging System

I used Simlogical’s tunable age mod to create my own aging system.

When it comes to age, 1 Sim year roughly translate as 10 real years (except for the younger lifestages, I had to find a balance so that parents become elders around the time their kids reach adulthood).

  • Infant = 8 days (it may seem long but Sims spend 3 to 5 days at the maternity)
  • Toddler = 12 days
  • Child = 20 days
  • Teen = 20 days
  • Young Adult = 20 days (I use a 3-year uni mod and have the YA grow up 2 days after graduation. For those who don’t attend uni, I simply aged them up manually on their birthday)
  • Adult = 80 days
  • Elder = between 18 and 44 days

Thus, the maximum life expectancy is around 10 years (200 days).

I calculated the aging system so that children and teens could experience a full year in school/high school before growing up. But most importantly, Sims always transition on the actual day of their birth.

I set my Sims’ zodiac sign based on their birthday! (I think it makes more sense rather than having their sign linked to their personalities, that way twins get the same sign, etc.).

Here is how I fit the 12 signs into a 20 days year (some signs are longer than others but each last at least 36 hours.)

  • Spring 1 = Pisces (AM) / Aries (PM)
  • Spring 2 = Aries
  • Spring 3 = Taurus
  • Spring 4 = Taurus
  • Spring 5 = Gemini
  • Summer 1 = Gemini (AM) / Cancer (PM)
  • Summer 2 = Cancer
  • Summer 3 = Leo
  • Summer 4 = Leo
  • Summer 5 = Virgo
  • Autumn 1 = Virgo (AM) / Libra (PM)
  • Autumn 2 = Libra
  • Autumn 3 = Scorpio
  • Autumn 4 = Scorpio
  • Autum 5 = Sagittarius
  • Winter 1 = Sagittarius (AM) / Capricorn (PM)
  • Winter 2 = Capricorn
  • Winter 3 = Aquarius
  • Winter 4 = Aquarius
  • Winter 5 = Pisces
