Day 2 – Carlos Contender

Tuesday, March, Year 1

Carlos had everything. Money, fame, a nice villa with a view on the ocean. He had been as successful as one could dream, becoming the highest praised athlete in SimCity. His life was of the sort you see in inspirational movies. Except that those movies never showed the part when the party is over and the guests are all gone. His house, looking so lovely on the outside, felt hollow and cold on the inside. What was the point of having all that space if it was all empty? Only silence echoed between its fancy white walls.

It was in those moments that he missed his brother the most. Santana had been dead for many years now, but the urge to call him for a quick chat never disappeared. So instead, he’d call his niece Isabel. She’d done well for herself, raising a beautiful family.

Carlos couldn’t help but wonder what it would have been liked if he had created a family of his own. Not that he regretted his life choices, he knew he wasn’t cut out for married life. He liked the thrill of novelty too much. Besides, he was away too much to even think about raising a child.

What was eating at him was the fact his glory days were coming to an end. He hadn’t touched a ball for decades. People still recognized and respected him, but before long a new generation of players would come along and his name would slowly be forgotten. He kept thinking about his youth, not understanding how time flew so fast.

At least, he’d still kept some of his charm with the ladies. A new girlfriend would the perfect distraction from his loneliness.
